Long Time No SEE or Write.

Wow, where has the time gone? The kids are growing so fast. Peyton started Kindergarten this year:(. She loves going to school and likes her teacher. The transition has been a little hard for her but she is adjusting okay. I am now working part-time watching my nephew 3 days a week. My sister-in-law is now working and needed care for him during the week. There are 2 other girls I share the days with. It seems to be working out good. I take Skyler with me and she gets to interact with another toddler and her cousin at the same time.

Halloween this year was fun. We met up with family and trick or treated together in a bigger neighborhood. Skyler was a trooper. She trick or treated until the very end. Every house we went to she looked in her bucket when they gave her candy and would ask them for more. The girls had a blast. They got alot of candy that they could eat. There was not much I had to pass on to Daddy that was not gluten free. Alot of candy companies are not using gluten anymore, so they had plenty of sugar.

We are still eating gluten free and it has been good for us. Peyton's behaviors are better. We still have alot of hyperactivity and major impulsivity but the rage and aggression is gone. I can now get her from school and not have major rage fits in the parking lot to where I cannot even get her in the car without being hit, kicked or bitten. We are working on the impulsivity issue. It also bothers Skyler. When she was a baby anything with wheat in it would give her extreme stomach cramps and diarrhea. Twice I have tried to give her a little and both times she got horrible cramps, pain and diarrhea. I felt horrible. So it is a family change with our eating habits. The one plus is we do not eat out much now, so that saves us money. We have tried to go to Chili's twice with no problem. We eat at Chick-fil-A alot. They will make the chicken grilled and change their gloves since there is a gluten allergy. Everything else there is gluten free, fries, condiments, drinks and ice cream.

Yesterday we went to Whole Foods in Orlando and I think I am in love with that store. I felt like a kid in a candy store. They have SO much gluten free stuff at good prices. I am going to make a trip once a month and load up from now on. We made it an all inclusive trip and took the kids to Monkey Joes afterwards. It is a indoor bounce house place. They LOVE it and will bounce for hours. They were asleep on the way home within 10 minutes.

Today we are going to make our own homemade playdough for the girls to play with. Regular playdough has wheat in it. Children that have gluten allergies or intolerance still are affected by touching the wheat. It is absorbed through the skin and if they put thier hands in their mouth, as Peyton does, the gluten still affects them. We have now changed recently from regular organic shampoo to California baby because it is free of allergens like gluten plus many others. ALot of organic stuff is NOT gluten free. Some people think that it is. I have learned alot with doing research. It has made me feel better not eating the gluten. When I do have it I seriously pay for it.

Looking forward to thanksgiving this year. Currently I am trying out recipes for dinner rolls and stuffing. I will probably make my bread like I usually do and dry it out instead of searching for gluten free cubes. That way it is really homemade. I will keep you posted on how it comes out.

Going Gluten Free

We have decided to try going Gluten Free in our household to see if it will help the problems we are having with Peyton. After all of the research I have done and all of the other Mothers and Profesionals I have talked to the only thing it can do is help. There is NO negative side to taking this protein out of our diet. I recently found out there is a family intolerence to gluten. SO my prayer for Peyton is not only to help with behaviors but if she was prone to intestinal issues we have already nipped that.

The search for Gluten free products has not been easy. There are not very many places here locally that have a whole lot. The prices are also not within a range of being able to change your pantry quickly which is frustrating. We have started basically one meal at a time. Alot of fresh fruit, vegetables, rice and meat. I have found a pancake and baking mix called Pamelas that we made pancakes last night for dinner with gluten free maple syrup and they were the best pancakes I have ever had. The kids loved them. Tyler of course has a little mental block beacause it is a change but I think he liked them. We tried the Bisquick gluten free pancake and baking mix and the pancakes were not good. I think we will definently stick to the Pamelas. There are alls orts of things I can make with this mix.

Today she had greek yogurt and bananas with strawberries for breakfast and so far things seem fine. We will se how the day goes

Wow it has been Forever, Life has been Crazy.

So, where Do I start? Skyler is now 15 months in 3 days. A walking running machine. She now has a voice and a huge attitude. The girls fight over toys, who is going to walk in front and who is going to to to eat first. Welcome to sibling rivalry. The other 5% of the time they love each other. The baby loves her sister. When Peyton wakes up in the morning she is so excited to see her and hug and kiss her. Within an hour or so the fighting starts once the breakfast has set in.
Peyton is in VPK this year and we are starting to research Kindergarten for next year. What a stressful thing to think about. I have already gone to two schools. One private and one public. How to know where to put your child for school is extremely hard. Hopefully it will just feel right.
I have been really busy lately also with my MOPS Moms group. I am the fundraising coordinator and we have an upcoming event. I will post it in my next post.
